Cow of Myron (reconstruction)

Name: Cow of Myron (reconstruction)
Material: Digital
Format: Statue
Location: The original location of this celebrated lost bronze sculpture is not known. We accept Antonio Corso's speculation (La vacca di Mirone, NAC 23 (1994) 49-91at p. 54) that it must have been erected on a terrace of the Acropolis along the itinerary of the Panathenaic procession and hence have placed it near the west staircase to the Parthenon. For the many epigrams written about Myron's Cow, see Michael Squire, Making Myron's Cow Moo? Ecphrastic Epigram and the Poetics of Simulation, The American Journal of Philology 131 (2010) 589-634.
