Information: Gift of Ramona Gibbs in memory of her parents, T. Harrison and Maurine Montgomery Gibbs, with the support of Dr. William H. and Nancy Marshall. Gibbs, son of an artist and author, received classical training in Philadelphia and Rome. He created the plaster model as a Prix de Rome Fellow but died on a battlefield in WW II before it could be cast. His daughter had it conserved by Norton Art Conservation and cast by True Form Productions for installation at the museum on May 5, 2013.
